About the Optus Ultra WiFi (Gen 2) modem

The Optus Ultra WiFi Gen 2 is the Sagemcom F@st 5366 — a Wi-Fi 6 gateway with four Gigabit LAN ports, built-in 4G backup, and support for Optus WiFi Booster pods for whole-home coverage. It works on NBN FTTP, FTTN, FTTC and HFC.

Setting up the Optus Ultra WiFi (Gen 2) – step by step

  1. Connect the modem to your NBN connection box (or wall socket for FTTN) with the supplied cable.
  2. Plug in power and switch on – lights will cycle while it starts.
  3. Activate the service in the My Optus app if prompted, and allow the first firmware update to finish.
  4. Wait for the Internet light to turn solid blue – you’re online.
  5. Connect your devices using the Wi-Fi name and password on the modem’s base label.

Common Optus Ultra WiFi modem problems we fix

  • Internet light won’t turn blue
  • 4G Backup light is red
  • Can’t find the Wi-Fi details
  • Booster pods won’t pair
  • Slow Wi-Fi or dead spots
  • Activating the service in the My Optus app

The Ultra WiFi Gen 2 (Sagemcom F@st 5366) needs the correct NBN port for your technology type plus a first-run activation, so most ‘no internet’ cases are a port or activation issue rather than a faulty modem.

Frequently asked questions

How do I set up the Optus Ultra WiFi Gen 2 modem?

Connect it to your NBN box or wall socket, power on, activate in the My Optus app if prompted, wait for the Internet light to turn solid blue, then join Wi-Fi using the details on the base label.

What does a blue internet light mean on the Optus modem?

Solid blue on the Internet light means you’re online via the fixed NBN connection. If the 4G Backup light is also green, you’re running on 4G backup because the fixed line is down.

Browse to 192.168.0.1 and use the credentials printed on the base label (commonly username optus with the Wi-Fi password, or admin/admin on older Sagemcom models).

Does the Optus Ultra WiFi Gen 2 support booster pods?

Yes – it’s a Wi-Fi 6 modem with four Gigabit LAN ports and supports Optus WiFi Booster pods for whole-home mesh coverage.
