Data Recovery Cost Australia — Pricing Guide

Last Updated:

Data recovery pricing depends on (1) storage type (HDD vs SSD vs NVMe vs phone NAND), (2) failure mode (logical vs physical), and (3) extent of damage (clean recovery vs chip-off vs RAID reconstruction). We diagnose free, then quote firm before any work begins.

All prices AUD with data returned on encrypted external drive. Cost includes the drive. Recovery time varies by scenario — daily updates throughout.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why such a wide price range per scenario?

Diagnostic determines the specific work required. A clicking HDD might need just a PCB swap ($880) or a full head + platter clean ($1,800). We quote firm after diagnostic, not before.

'Free phone assessment' — do you offer that?

We don’t blanket-offer it because it changes our work incentives in unhelpful ways. What we do: free phone assessment with firm quote BEFORE work begins. If we agree to proceed and don’t recover what we said we would, we discount or refund proportionally.

How much does ransomware decryption cost?

Depends entirely on the strain. Some families (older LockBit variants, REvil after takedowns) have public decryption tools — $480 to apply. Other strains have no public tool — we may attempt brute-force or partial recovery for $1,400+, success uncertain. Best protection: always have a clean offline backup.

Apple Silicon Mac storage cost?

$680-$1,400 via DFU mode if SoC is alive. $1,800-$2,400 chip-off if SoC is dead. See Apple Silicon DFU recovery.

Insurance coverage?

Many home contents / business policies cover data recovery cost. We provide detailed paperwork including chain of custody, recovery report, and itemised invoice for claims.

Confidentiality?

Standard process: we don’t examine your files beyond what’s required for recovery. NDA available for corporate / legal clients. Our internal copies wiped after handover.
