Can I use any USB-C charger on my HP laptop?
Only if the charger supplies at least 65 W for Spectre, Envy and EliteBook models or 200 W for Omen and Victus gaming units. Lower-wattage phone chargers will not trigger the PD handshake and the laptop will show 'charger not recognised'.
Should I replace the barrel charger with USB-C on an older HP?
Only if the mainboard already has a USB-C PD controller fitted. Many Pavilion and older EliteBook units accept only the 4.5 mm smart-pin connector; fitting an aftermarket USB-C board voids warranty and often fails the 20 V negotiation.
How long does an HP charging port repair usually take?
Most USB-C or barrel port replacements are completed in one to three business days once parts arrive. Board-level charging IC work can extend to four days if the IC is on back-order.
Will my data be safe during a charging port repair?
We always create a sector-level image of the drive before any board work begins. The storage drive itself is never removed unless you specifically request data migration to a new SSD.
Is the 90-day warranty transferable if I sell the laptop?
The warranty stays with the repaired device and covers parts and labour for 90 days from the repair date. It is not affected by change of ownership provided the original receipt is shown.
