Can I use any USB-C charger on my MSI laptop?
MSI gaming models need the original barrel PSU for full GPU load; USB-C PD works for lighter tasks on Prestige and Stealth series but must be at least 65 W for idle and 100 W for sustained CPU work. Using a lower-rated charger can trigger throttling or EC lockouts.
How long does an MSI charging port repair usually take?
Workshop turnaround is typically one to three business days once parts arrive. Onsite visits in metro areas are completed the same day if we carry the common barrel and USB-C connectors in the van.
Will my data be safe during a board-level charging repair?
We always create a sector-level image of the drive before any soldering work begins. The image stays on our secure NAS for 14 days so you can request a copy if the original drive develops an unrelated fault later.
Does MSI still honour warranty after a third-party charging port repair?
MSI’s warranty terms exclude damage from non-genuine parts or unauthorised repair. We use OEM-spec connectors and document every step so you can decide whether to keep the remaining factory cover or rely on our 90-day warranty instead.
What happens if the charging IC is also faulty?
During the free diagnostic we test the charging IC with a current probe. If it has failed we quote the additional board-level replacement; you only pay if you approve the work. Many customers choose the combined port-plus-IC repair to avoid repeat visits.
