Common Issues & How We Fix Them

Keyboard faults and dead keys

Spills, wear and failed keys are common on slim VAIO keyboards. We replace the keyboard assembly and check the surrounding board for liquid damage.

Charging or DC-jack faults

If the VAIO charges intermittently or only at an angle, the DC jack or charging circuit is usually worn. We repair or replace the jack and verify a stable charge.

Loose hinge or lid cracking

A stiff or loose hinge can crack the lid and panel if left. We re-tension or replace the hinge cluster and repair the mounting points.

Overheating or won’t boot

Dust and ageing thermal paste cause throttling and shutdowns; a no-boot VAIO is often a RAM, storage or board fault. We diagnose properly before quoting.
