How to log in to your Telstra modem

  1. Connect a device to the modem (Wi-Fi or cable).
  2. Open a browser and go to http://192.168.0.1 (or http://mymodem).
  3. Enter the admin username and password (see the table below for your model).

Default login by Telstra modem model

ModelAdmin URLDefault credentials
Smart Modem Gen 1.1 & Gen 2 (DJA0231)192.168.0.1Username admin, password Telstra (or the password on the base)
Smart Modem Gen 3 & Smart Modem 4192.168.0.1Use the Wi-Fi password printed on the base sticker

The correct username and password are always printed on the sticker on the bottom of your modem – check there first, as credentials vary by model and may have been personalised.

Forgot the password? Reset it

Hold the recessed reset button for about 10 seconds until the modem restarts. This restores factory settings (including the default password on the sticker) – but it also wipes any custom Wi-Fi name/password and settings, so you’ll need to set those again.

Changing your Wi-Fi name & password

Once logged in, open the Wi-Fi / Wireless settings to change the network name (SSID) and password. Use a strong password and apply it to both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. We can do this remotely and lock the modem down securely if you’d rather not.

Common Telstra modem problems we fix

  • Forgotten admin password
  • 192.168.0.1 won’t load
  • The password on the sticker is rejected
  • Locked out after changing settings
  • Need to change the Wi-Fi name or password
  • A factory reset wiped the configuration

Gen 1.1 and Gen 2 use admin/Telstra; Gen 3 and the Smart Modem 4 use the Wi-Fi password on the base. A reset restores the sticker default but also clears your custom Wi-Fi, so we reset safely and reconfigure without downtime where possible.
