TPG modem lights – what they mean
TPG supplies NetComm (and some Huawei/ZTE) modems. On a typical TPG NetComm modem the lights mean:
| Light | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Power green | Modem on | Normal |
| Internet/Online solid green | Connected to the internet | All good |
| Internet red | No connection / auth failed | Restart; if it stays red, check line/settings |
| Internet/DSL flashing | Connecting / syncing | Wait a few minutes |
| Wi-Fi green | Wi-Fi on (flashing = activity) | Normal |
| No lights | No power | Check power switch and socket |
Exact labels vary by model – tell us what colour you see and we’ll tell you what it means and fix the cause.
Common TPG modem problems we fix
- Red internet light
- DSL/internet won’t sync
- Flashing that won’t stop
- No lights at all
- Wi-Fi light off
- Light meanings differ by model
A flashing line light that never goes solid is a sync or cabling issue; a solid line but a red internet light is usually a settings or authentication problem — two very different fixes, so identifying which saves time.

Frequently asked questions
What does a red internet light mean on a TPG modem?
A red Internet/Online light means no connection or a failed authentication. Restart the modem; if it stays red, the line or the internet/PPPoE settings need checking.
What colour should my TPG modem light be?
The Internet/Online light should be solid green – that means you’re connected to the internet.
Why is my TPG modem internet light flashing?
A flashing internet or DSL light means the modem is negotiating or syncing the connection. If it never goes solid green, there’s a line or settings issue.
My TPG modem has no internet – can you help?
Yes – we diagnose whether it’s the NBN line, the modem, the Wi-Fi or the TPG settings and get you back online, onsite or remotely.
