Framework Expansion Card Slot Repair Specialist
Last Updated:
Framework Expansion Cards are the swappable I/O modules — USB-C, USB-A, HDMI, DisplayPort, microSD, Ethernet, audio, 250GB SSD. They slot into the chassis via Framework’s proprietary connector. Two failure modes: (1) slot wear from frequent swapping, (2) individual card failure.
Common Issues & How We Fix Them
Expansion card not detected
If a Framework expansion card has stopped working, the fault may be the card or the bay. We test each module and the bay contacts and replace only what is faulty.
Port intermittently dropping out
A card that connects then drops usually has worn contacts or a bay fault — we clean, reseat and test under load.
Choosing the right cards
We can advise on the right mix of USB-C, USB-A, HDMI, storage and other cards for how you use the laptop.
