Why Framework? Can't I just repair it myself?

Many customers do — Framework provides guides + spare parts. We’re for customers who don’t have time or aren’t comfortable with the disassembly. We charge time-only labour: $90/hr + parts cost.

Mainboard upgrade — what does it involve?

Framework sells newer-generation mainboards as upgrade kits (e.g. Intel 12th → 13th → Core Ultra; Ryzen 7000 → AI 300). The upgrade keeps your screen, keyboard, chassis, expansion cards — replaces just the mainboard. We do the swap + cooling repaste + test for $180 labour.

Framework 16 RTX 7700S GPU module — repair?

The discrete GPU module on Framework 16 is itself a swappable unit. If the GPU dies, Framework can ship a replacement module. We install + test for $120.

Expansion Card slot wear?

The 4 USB-C slots on Framework 13 (6 on Framework 16) can wear from frequent Expansion Card swapping. Replacement slot module is user-serviceable; we fit for $80 labour each.

Are you Framework authorised?

Framework’s philosophy is ‘authorised = the user’. We’re an independent repair shop that supports the Framework right-to-repair ethos. Framework officially supports any user / independent shop doing repairs.
