Power supply failure
The 24″ iMac uses external power brick (unique to this model — earlier iMacs used internal PSU). Brick replacement: $80-$160. Internal power-distribution issue is rarer; if board-level, $280-$480.
Fan noise (M3/M4 top-spec only)
M3/M4 with 4-port spec have a single small fan. M1 is fully passive. Fan service if needed: $180-$240.
USB-C / Thunderbolt 4 port wear
Entry 24″ iMac: 2× USB-C. Top-spec: 4× (2× USB-C + 2× Thunderbolt 4). Port replacement: $320-$420 each.
Magic Keyboard issues
The bundled Magic Keyboard is separate. Keyboard issues are wireless / pairing — usually software-state, free remote fix.
Power cable damage
The colour-matched woven fabric cable can fray at the connector. Replacement cable: $80-$120 from Apple parts.

iMac M1 / M3 / M4 Repair (24") — your questions answered
How much does it cost to replace the screen on a 24-inch M3 iMac?
A bonded 4.5K Retina panel replacement on the 24-inch M3 iMac ranges from $950 to $1,300 fitted. The assembly must be ordered through Apple’s authorised parts channel and includes transfer of the camera and sensors. Turnaround is typically two to four working days once the panel arrives.
Can you fix my M1 iMac that won’t turn on at all?
We begin with a free diagnostic that isolates whether the external power brick, internal distribution board or logic board has failed. Most no-power cases on the M1 24-inch iMac are resolved by swapping the brick for $80-$160. If the fault is deeper, board-level repair starts from $280.
Is the fan on my M4 iMac repairable or does the whole machine need replacing?
Only the higher-spec M4 models contain a single 40 mm fan. If it seizes or becomes noisy we can replace just the fan assembly for $180-$240 without touching the rest of the system. The M1 remains fanless and silent.
Do you come to my home for iMac repairs in Sydney?
Yes, our technicians perform onsite visits across greater Sydney for the 24-inch M-series iMac. Because the machine is portable you can also bring it to our workshop. Onsite diagnostic is covered under the same no-fix-no-fee policy.
Will replacing the Thunderbolt ports on my M4 iMac void AppleCare?
Any non-Apple authorised work can affect remaining AppleCare coverage. We document every step with photos and use OEM-grade ports so you can decide whether to keep the machine on AppleCare or continue with our 90-day warranty.
