Almost certainly. Apple’s flexgate service program ended in 2023 — we’re now the primary fix. Longer cable replacement: $480 fitted, 90-day warranty.

Can I see the display with a flashlight?

If yes: panel is fine, backlight is dead. Common on impact damage. Panel replacement $880-$1,400. If no: full panel failure — same $880-$1,800 panel replacement.

Backlight flickering only at low brightness — fix?

Usually LED driver circuitry on the logic board. Component-level repair possible if the affected component is accessible: $380-$580. Otherwise full panel: $880+.

Is flexgate covered by Apple still?

Apple’s service program for 13″ 2016 MBPs ended. They occasionally make exceptions if you’re a long-time customer + your serial qualifies. Worth a call to Apple Support before bringing to us. If declined, we’re the alternative.
