MacBook Screen Repair — All Generations + Panel Types
Last Updated:
MacBook screens span four generations of panel technology: Retina LCD (2012-2020 MacBooks), Liquid Retina LCD (M1+ MacBook Air, 14″ MacBook Pro), Liquid Retina XDR mini-LED (14″ + 16″ MacBook Pro M1 Pro and later), and OLED (rumoured upcoming, not shipping yet). Each panel type has different replacement cost + complexity.
Most-common reasons we replace MacBook screens: drop/impact cracks, “flexgate” cable wear on 2016-2018 13″ MBPs causing dark bands, dead pixel clusters, backlight bleed, and OLED-style image retention on heavily-used MBPs (rare on LCD). All replacements use Apple-spec panels sourced through our distributor pipeline.
