iiNet modem lights – what they mean
| Light | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Power green | Modem is on | Normal |
| Broadband/DSL solid green | Line synced | Good – waiting on the internet light next |
| Broadband flashing | Trying to sync the line | Wait a few minutes; if it never goes solid, the line needs checking |
| Internet solid green | Online | All good |
| Internet red | No connection / login failed | Restart; if it stays red, check line or broadband details |
| Wireless green | Wi-Fi on (flashing = activity) | Normal |
| No lights | No power | Check the power switch and socket |
Why the broadband light won’t sync
If the Broadband/DSL light keeps flashing and never goes solid, the modem can’t sync the line – common causes are a faulty phone-socket cable, a line fault, or a filter problem on older connections. A solid broadband light but red internet usually means the line is fine but the broadband username/password is wrong. We can tell the two apart quickly and fix the cause.

Frequently asked questions
What does a red light on my iiNet modem mean?
A red Internet light means no connection – usually a line-sync problem or the wrong broadband login. Restart the modem; if it stays red, the line or the connection details need checking.
What colour should my iiNet modem lights be?
Power, Broadband/DSL and Internet should all be solid green – that means the line is synced and you’re online.
Why is my iiNet broadband light flashing?
A flashing Broadband/DSL light means the modem is trying to sync the line. If it never goes solid green, there’s a cabling or line fault to investigate.
My iiNet modem has no internet – can you fix it?
Yes – we work out whether it’s the line, the modem, the Wi-Fi or the broadband settings and get you back online, onsite or remotely.
Do all iiNet modems use the same lights?
The TG-789/BudiiLite and most iiNet modems follow the same pattern – power, broadband/DSL, internet and Wi-Fi. Tell us the colour you see and we’ll tell you what it means.
Can you help over the phone or remotely?
Yes – many light/connection issues can be diagnosed and fixed remotely; we send a technician onsite for cabling and line faults.
