ThinkPad T-Series Repair — your questions answered
How much does a ThinkPad T14 battery replacement cost in Australia?
Removable batteries on T14 Gen 1-2 are $280-$420 including a genuine Lenovo cell and same-day fitting. Bonded batteries in T14s and later T14 generations cost $420-$580 because the palmrest must be removed and new adhesive applied.
Can you repair the USB-C ports on a docked T14 or T16?
Yes. Daily dock use often wears the Thunderbolt 4 receptacles. We desolder the damaged port under hot air, fit a new receptacle and test full 100 W charging plus 4K display output through the ThinkPad Thunderbolt 4 dock.
Is the keyboard on a ThinkPad T-series worth replacing or should I buy a new laptop?
Keyboard deck swaps on T14 and T16 models cost $300-$420 fitted. Because the rest of the chassis, ports and motherboard remain original, most owners choose repair over replacement for machines under five years old.
Do T16 hinges need special parts or can they be tightened?
T16 hinges can usually be re-tensioned and lubricated for $180-$220 without new parts. If the hinge barrels are cracked we replace the hinge set; both left and right hinges are available as genuine Lenovo assemblies.
Will my data be safe if you do a board-level repair on my T14?
We always create a sector-level image of the NVMe drive before any board work. The image is stored on our secure NAS for 14 days so you can recover files even if the repair uncovers further storage issues.
