ThinkPad X1 Carbon Repair — your questions answered
How much does a ThinkPad X1 Carbon battery replacement cost in Australia?
A bonded 57 Wh or 61 Wh battery for Gen 6-12 models costs $420-$580 fitted including the 90-day warranty. We image your drive first and test the new pack under load before returning the machine.
Can you fix a cracked hinge on an X1 Carbon without replacing the whole bottom cover?
Early hairline cracks can be cleaned, bonded and reinforced with carbon layup for $280-$380. Once the crack has spread and the screen wobbles we must fit a new bottom cover, typically $700-$950.
Is OLED burn-in covered on the X1 Carbon Gen 11 and 12?
Burn-in after 18-24 months is a known panel characteristic, not a defect, so Lenovo warranty rarely covers it. We replace the 2.8K OLED assembly for $1,000-$1,300 and recalibrate colours to factory spec.
How long will my X1 Carbon be off-site for a typical repair?
Most battery, keyboard and TrackPoint jobs are completed same or next day. Board-level USB-C or hinge-cover work takes 2-5 business days depending on parts availability from our Melbourne and Sydney stores.
Do you use genuine Lenovo parts for X1 Carbon repairs?
We fit OEM-spec screens, batteries and keyboards that match the original FRU numbers. All parts carry our 90-day warranty on both the component and labour.
