Razer Blade Overheating — Diagnosis + Targeted Repair

Last Updated:

Razer Blade overheating has three root causes: (1) liquid-metal pump-out at 24-36 months on top-spec SKUs, (2) vapor chamber dry-out at 36-48 months, (3) fan failure (bearing or cable). Diagnosis distinguishes these — same symptom, very different fix cost.

We use a structured diagnostic: thermal imaging under controlled load + Synapse fan-curve check + visual chamber inspection. Within 90 minutes we know which of the three (or which combination) is at fault. The fix path is then targeted — we don’t guess.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Blade fans are spinning but it still throttles — what's happening?

Fans working = good. Throttle = bad. That points at the heat-transfer path — paste pump-out, vapor chamber issue, or both. Diagnostic test under controlled load confirms.

My Blade fans are silent and it throttles immediately — fix?

Fan-curve issue (Synapse misconfig — fixable in minutes, no charge) OR a dead fan motor (cable disconnected, bearing failure — $180-$240 fitted). Quick diagnostic tells us which.

Can I just use a cooling pad?

Cooling pads help with intake-air temperature (5°C drop typical). They don’t fix pump-out, dry-out, or fan failure. They’re a band-aid; we recommend addressing the root cause.

How hot is too hot for a Razer Blade?

Sustained 80-90°C under load is normal for a Blade. 95-100°C is throttle territory — something is wrong. Idle should be 35-55°C.

Will undervolt help?

Yes, an undervolt of -50 to -120mV typically drops CPU temps 5-15°C without performance loss. We do undervolts as part of our diagnostic if it helps confirm thermal vs platform issue.
