Butterfly keyboard failing — Apple service program ended, what now?

Apple’s free service program ended 2023. We’re now the primary alternative. Butterfly-to-scissor full top-case swap: $480-$640 fitted depending on year + Touch Bar SKU. 90-day warranty.

Flexgate display issue — fix?

Flexgate (cable wears at the hinge causing display dimming or black) affects 2016-2018 13″ MBPs primarily. Apple’s service program partially covered some. We do the cable-only repair via a 6mm-longer replacement cable: $480 fitted.

T2 chip data recovery — possible if MBP dead?

Yes if you have the user password. Without the password, T2-encrypted data is mathematically unrecoverable. With password + working T2: we use a T2 service cable + special tooling to access the storage. $880-$1,400 depending on logic-board state.

Battery replacement cost — these are soldered?

The battery is glued to the top-case (not soldered to logic board). Removal requires careful heating + alcohol solvent. Full top-case swap (battery + keyboard combined) is often the right call on 2018-2019: $580-$780 fitted.

Worth repairing a 2018-2019 MBP in 2026?

Depends. Battery + keyboard service is good value to keep it running 2-3 more years. Logic-board repair is borderline — at 7+ years old, replacement with a refurbished M1 / M2 makes more sense unless the existing MBP has sentimental or workflow value.
