MacBook Pro Repair Australia — M-Series + Intel
Last Updated:
MacBook Pro is Apple’s professional laptop line — currently the 14″ and 16″ with Apple Silicon (M1 Pro/Max, M2 Pro/Max, M3 Pro/Max, M4 Pro/Max), and the legacy 13″ / 15″ / 16″ Intel models that are still very much in service across Australia. We repair every MacBook Pro generation going back to the Unibody era. The transition to Apple Silicon in 2020 changed a lot — soldered storage, soldered RAM, T2-then-M-series Activation Lock, Liquid Retina XDR mini-LED displays, MagSafe 3 charging.

Common Issues & How We Fix Them
Battery Service / swell (universal MacBook Pro fault)
Apple’s batteries last 1,000 charge cycles to 80% original capacity. After 3-4 years of daily use most MacBook Pros show “Service Battery” recommendation in macOS. Swollen cells lift the trackpad or chassis. Replacement: $380-$680 fitted depending on generation. Dedicated battery page.
Cracked Retina / mini-LED screen
Bonded glass + Retina (or mini-LED Liquid Retina XDR on 14″/16″ M-series) assembly. Genuine Apple panels via authorised parts pipeline. $850-$1,800 fitted depending on size + panel tech. Dedicated screen page.
Butterfly keyboard recall (2016-2019)
13″/15″ Intel MacBook Pros with butterfly mechanism have a well-known stuck-key failure mode. Apple’s Keyboard Service Program covered some units — but ran out by 2024. We replace the top-case assembly (keyboard + battery + trackpad as one unit). $580-$880 fitted. Dedicated butterfly page.
MagSafe 3 / USB-C port wear
M-series MacBook Pros use MagSafe 3 (the magnetic port) + 2-3 USB-C / Thunderbolt 4 ports. Port flex replacement: $320-$480 fitted. Dedicated port page.
Liquid damage
Ultrasonic board clean within 24 hours = ~60% recovery rate. Dedicated liquid damage page.
GPU failure (Intel 15″ 2018-2019)
Some Intel 15″ MacBook Pros with discrete Radeon Pro GPU developed BGA solder fatigue. Reflow / reball available. $580-$880.
Stage Light / Flexgate (Intel 13″ 2016-2017)
Display backlight cable too-short failure on Intel 13″ — uneven backlight at bottom of screen. Apple’s Display Backlight Service Program ended; we replace via display-assembly swap or specialised cable fix. $480-$880.
Thermal throttling (M3 Max specifically)
M3 Max in 14″ / 16″ 2023 runs warm under sustained load. Re-paste with PTM7950 phase-change pad recovers headroom. $280 flat. Thermal page coming soon.
Activation Lock / T2 / M-series
Locked MacBook Pro with proof of ownership — we facilitate Apple’s official unlock process. Dedicated unlock page.
