The Surface Pro 9 (2022) is Microsoft’s current consumer flagship — Intel 12th-gen on the standard SKU, ARM-based Microsoft SQ3 / Snapdragon 8cx on the Pro 9 5G variant. Both share the chassis but the internals differ enough that we treat them as related-but-distinct repair targets. After 2-3 years in the market the most common faults are: cracked screen from drops, battery wear (faster than older Pros because the cell is smaller relative to the SoC TDP), USB-C wear, and the occasional kickstand looseness.
Workshop turnaround is same- to next-day in metro for screen and battery; USB-C and kickstand are 1-2 days. Pro 9 5G ARM variants need our specialised ARM-Windows diagnostic tools.

Common Issues & How We Fix Them
Cracked screen (most common Pro 9 fault)
Bonded PixelSense assembly. Replacement: $800-$950 fitted. Stock varies — confirm at quote.
Battery degradation
Pro 9 batteries are noticeably smaller relative to the device’s capability. Heavy use sees runtime drop at the 2-3 year mark. Replacement: $450-$600 fitted.
USB-C / Thunderbolt 4 port wear
Pro 9 has two USB-C / Thunderbolt 4 ports. Both wear with use. Replacement: $350-$450 per port.
Pro 9 5G (ARM / SQ3) software issues
The ARM variant is more software-temperamental than Intel — driver updates, app compatibility, occasional UEFI bugs. We have the Snapdragon firmware tools and the experience to triage.
Kickstand looseness (rare on Pro 9)
Pro 9 hinge has been excellent. We’ve seen a handful at the 18-24 month mark. Re-tension: $180.
