Hi, I have a Dell Inspiron 7591 2-in-1, Service Tag BJ3KQT2.
My battery type should be Dell 4GVMP, 68Wh, 4-cell. I bought an AliExpress replacement battery, but the laptop is not detecting/charging it properly.
In BIOS, the AC adapter is detected correctly as 65W, so the charger seems fine. Earlier BIOS showed the battery level but said “Not a Dell Battery.” Now sometimes BIOS only shows the AC adapter and does not show the battery at all. Dell diagnostics also showed Error Code 131: “Battery – The battery is not installed.”
Can you please check the battery ribbon/cable, motherboard battery connector, and whether the AliExpress battery’s BMS/ID board is incompatible with Dell BIOS?
I also have the old original Dell battery. Please check if anything from the original battery, such as the battery cable/ribbon or BMS board, can be safely reused or swapped, but only if it is safe and suitable for this exact battery type. I do not want unsafe lithium cell modifications.
Hi Bisesh, thank you for the detailed information about your Dell Inspiron 7591 2-in-1 battery not detected issue.
Based on what you’ve described, it does sound like the charger is likely working, especially since the BIOS is detecting the 65W Dell AC adapter correctly. The main issue may be related to the Dell 4GVMP 68Wh 4-cell battery replacement, the battery ribbon cable connection, the motherboard battery connector, or the AliExpress replacement battery BMS/ID board not being compatible with Dell BIOS.
We can inspect the laptop and carry out a full Dell Inspiron 7591 2-in-1 battery charging diagnosis, including checking the battery ribbon cable, battery connector on the motherboard, BIOS battery detection status, and whether the replacement battery is being rejected as a non-genuine Dell battery. We can also compare it with your original Dell battery to help confirm whether the problem is caused by the aftermarket battery, the battery cable, or the internal laptop charging circuit.
Please bring the laptop, the charger, the AliExpress replacement battery, and the old original Dell battery with you. We can check whether the original Dell battery cable or ribbon is safe and suitable to reuse, but we would not recommend or perform any unsafe lithium battery cell modifications or BMS board swapping unless it is confirmed to be safe, compatible, and appropriate for that exact Dell battery type.
If the AliExpress battery’s internal ID board or BMS is incompatible with the Dell BIOS, the safest solution may be to replace it with a proper compatible Dell Inspiron 7591 2-in-1 4GVMP 68Wh battery rather than modifying the lithium battery pack.
We’ll be happy to assess it and advise you on the safest and most reliable repair option for your Dell laptop battery not charging or not detected problem.
