Apple Mac Repairs Australia — MacBook, iMac, Mac Mini & Mac Pro

Last Updated:

The Original PC Doctor has been repairing Apple Macs since we opened in 2001 — every generation of MacBook, iMac, Mac mini, Mac Pro and the current Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, M4) line. We’re an independent Apple repair specialist (not Apple Authorised Service Provider — that’s a separate concession), which means per-fault pricing instead of Apple’s flat-rate, board-level repair capabilities Apple themselves don’t offer (because they prefer to swap the whole device), and a 90-day warranty on every job.

Workshops and onsite technicians across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and surrounding regions. Use the cards below to jump to the right repair page for your Mac.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Apple repair cheaper through you or through Apple?

For single-fault out-of-warranty repair: us, usually by 30-60%. Apple’s out-of-warranty pricing is flat-rate per device class — often $700-$2,000+. Our per-fault pricing typically lands much lower for a single fault.

Will Apple repair void if I use you?

If still in AppleCare or hardware warranty, go to Apple first — independent repair before warranty expires may void coverage. Out of warranty (most cases), nothing to void. We always check status during the free quote.

Are you an Apple Authorised Service Provider?

No — we’re an independent Apple repair specialist. AASP status restricts what repairs can be done (and prices). We do board-level repair, chip-off data recovery and other work Apple just replaces the whole device for.

Can you recover data from a dead MacBook?

Almost always yes. See our MacBook data recovery page — covers Intel, T2 and Apple Silicon M-series.

Do you do onsite Apple repair?

For diagnostic + software + iMac/Mac mini desktop service — yes onsite across major Aussie metros. Internal MacBook repairs go to our workshop.

Will my Apple ID / iCloud data be affected?

No — hardware repair doesn’t touch your Apple ID, iCloud or any cloud-stored data. Local storage is preserved as default.

Can you fix a MacBook that Apple said is 'unrepairable'?

Often yes — Apple’s diagnostic only recognises whole-component swaps. We do BGA reflow, chip-off recovery, capacitor replacement and other board-level work.

Are you authorised to handle Activation Lock removal?

Yes — with proof of ownership we can request Activation Lock removal via Apple’s official MDM/IMEI unlock process. See T2 / Activation Lock page.

Do you service Apple iPhone and iPad too?

We focus on Mac repair (laptop + desktop). For iPhone/iPad we recommend Apple direct or a specialist mobile-repair shop.

How long does typical MacBook repair take?

Same-day for battery service in metro. 1-3 days for screen, keyboard, port. 3-7 days for board-level diagnostics or special-order parts.

Apple Mac Repairs — your questions answered

How much does a MacBook Air M2 battery replacement cost in Australia?

Independent workshops charge $280 to $420 fitted for a genuine-spec M2 cell pack including calibration. Same-day service is common when booked ahead; the battery is glued so labour is the larger portion of the cost.

Can you recover data from a dead M1 MacBook that won't turn on?

When the T2 chip is intact we can often read the NAND directly or transplant the storage module, provided the machine has not been Activation Locked. Success rate drops sharply after liquid damage or multiple failed boot attempts.

Do you repair Apple Silicon Macs or only Intel models?

We service every M1, M2, M3 and M4 MacBook, iMac and Mac mini. Board-level work is limited because Apple solders the main chips, yet we still replace batteries, screens, ports and perform data recovery on the T2 or internal SSD.

Is it worth fixing a 2019 27-inch iMac with a failed Fusion Drive?

A Fusion Drive rebuild or full SSD swap costs $260-$380 and restores full speed. For 2019 5K iMacs the display and chassis are still worth keeping, so repair is usually cheaper than buying a comparable new machine.

How long is the warranty on your Mac repairs?

Every job carries a 90-day warranty covering both parts and labour. Onsite repairs receive the same cover; if the fault returns within that window we attend again at no extra charge.
